Vera Lynn,  aged 92,   beat The Beatles to the top of the UK charts this week with 70 year old recordings re-released on the anniversary of WWII’s outbreak.  This makes her the oldest living artist to have a number one record in Britain.  Here is the song most emblematic of the period,  and the title song of the chart-topping collection. Scalpelist Song of the Day: Grizzly Bear (feat. Michael McDonald) – While You Wait for the Others

Grizzly Bear’s Veckatimest is easily one of the best albums released so far this year,  and the new single ‘While You Wait for the Others’ is one of the best tracks.  With the single they also released a version of the song sung by Michael McDonald(!) which is so bizarre it can’t help but be cool.  Definitely merits song of the day…  (S)
